Your internal IT person may know the firm, its applications and its people well. When responsibilities grow, the answer is not always to replace that knowledge. A co-managed arrangement can define which work stays internal and which work is assigned to an outside provider.
IT Assure starts with the responsibility gap. Operational IT support and managed cybersecurity are different scopes. If your main concern is security ownership, Co-Managed Cybersecurity explains how we deliver Cyber Defensibility alongside your existing IT resources.
Take the Quick Self-Check to consider cybersecurity ownership and coverage, or Book a Cybersecurity Review for a direct conversation.
Identify the gap before adding another provider
Is the problem a backlog of user requests, a planned project, unclear vendor ownership or security controls that nobody regularly validates? Those needs require different responsibilities and resources.
A useful co-managed discussion establishes:
- Which tasks the internal team continues to own.
- Which specific activities require outside support.
- Who approves changes and supplies necessary access.
- How requests, escalations and vendor dependencies are handled.
- Which work is recurring and which needs a separate project scope.
Operational support has its own boundaries
Day-to-day support can involve user requests, business applications, computers, infrastructure and vendor coordination. The appropriate arrangement depends on your environment and the work IT Assure agrees to provide.
Helpdesk coverage, onsite work, support hours, response expectations and fees must be stated in the agreement. A co-managed arrangement does not automatically include unlimited tickets, around-the-clock staffing, dedicated onsite personnel or every engineering project.
Cybersecurity needs an accountable owner
Under Cyber Defensibility, IT Assure manages defined cybersecurity controls, monitors their operation, repeatedly validates coverage, corrects routine covered gaps and revalidates the result. Leadership receives clear reporting of remaining issues and actions.
Your internal team can continue handling general IT work outside that security scope. The division of responsibility, minimum controls, access and authority to correct covered gaps are agreed before service begins.
If your current provider already owns and consistently performs that cybersecurity work, an additional service may not be needed.
Keep projects separate from recurring work
A migration, major infrastructure change or specialist requirement should have its own scope, dependencies and approval. Broader decisions about staffing responsibilities, vendors and investment priorities can be addressed through IT Strategy & Advisory.
Decide whether the arrangement fits
The optional Quick Self-Check is self-reported and focuses on cybersecurity; it does not assess your team’s full workload. The approximately 30-minute Cybersecurity Review explores current security ownership, protections and concerns. Tell us if your need is operational support or a project so we can determine the appropriate next step and whether IT Assure is a fit.
